Microsoft has found itself in the news recently for internally banning some commonly used software like Slack, AWS, GitHub, and Grammarly. Many people were taken aback by the revelation, in particular with respect to GitHub which is now a Microsoft property.

The reason isn’t that some of that software is a direct competitor to Microsoft
